» cold

Two weeks ago it was below zero. Last week, above 50. This morning I woke to snowfall. Spring is a fickle fiend.

Last week Cities ran an interview with someone from REM about their album due out next month, and they played “Horse to Water” and I think I liked it, and I want to listen again, so I am reminding myself here for when it’s actually available. March’s song, so far, is “She’s Electric” by Oasis, which I’m sure is a very old song but is my favorite in the current rotation.

On Saturday my horse had his teeth floated, and it was fascinating, and I will tell you about it but I’ve suddenly realized it’s time to be on my way to see him.

Did I tell you that I was on an Oasis kick, or did you do that on your own?

I have no idea how the idea got in my head. I started listening to them a couple weeks ago, so if the timing’s right that would explain it. For a while I was pulling some of my favorite songs (for Oasis of course it has to be ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Champagne Supernova’) to try other stuff by those artists, or to find related artists. At one point I found some guy who sang all in Italian, who was only first degree removed from an artist I really like, and I wish I’d paid attention to how I found that because he was *nothing* like the first artist, and it was all very strange.

Yeah, that seems about right. Oh, I do remember mentioning to you that Oasis was who I had on when I was trying to sleep on the airplane from Vegas, and that his whiny voice was not the least bit soothing. So yeah, probably my doing. I really like the three Oasis songs we bought for Rock Band. :-)

I’ve noticed the relationships on YMJ tend to be a bit random for lesser-known artists. It seems like a couple of fans can really influence the results. I can tell when my musical tastes have drifted too far into emo because the results start being all the big hit artists. Scary! Have you done the artist fan station? It’s a little risky if you’re not going to want to touch your music a lot, I guess. I’ve found some cool stuff that way.
