» compensating for something
I feel like I haven’t written a real post in a long time. Things have just been — busy. Insanely so. I only do the internet thing at work, and since work has been dizzyingly work-ish lately it leaves little time for nattering on about my goings-on and feelings and snacks and all. And I know you’ve just been fretting yourself silly for the last months wondering just what is it I’ve been snacking on.
So I bring you a random smattering of pictures I’ve had tucked away and have just recently rediscovered on my little thumb drive. And also a cook-along, if you’re so inclined.
In November, Bryce visited. We made nougat:

And talked about the logistics of being able to fly around the kitchen instead of having to walk:

For Thanksgiving I made — a lot of things, but among them an apple pie and a pumpkin pie from Martha Stewart’s new baking book. My grandma’s still talking about the pumpkin, which she says is the best she’s ever had. Thank you Martha.

Mmm Thai food. There’s no real reason for this one.

A few months ago I discovered and fell in love with some retro aprons, and instead of a) forgetting them, or b) pining away uselessly forever, or c) buying one, I d) made my own. You can’t really tell from my crooked cell phone pic, but the fabric’s black with these nice dark grey swirls on it, and the sides have this cute subtle sort of curving shape to them. Also, sewing on bias tape that narrow? Exercise in patience. (But don’t you just adore the teal in that hallway?)

And speaking of sewing, here’s that Red Riding Hood cloak I made for my last-minute Halloween costume:
