I feel like all I do on here any more is talk about food. Which really doesn’t bode well for my updating if Steph and I ever manage to get Trifling off the ground. I feel like I should make some kind of resolution and not mention food at all for a week.
But right now, I just have to let you know that the pineapple fried rice I made last night out of the Real Vegetarian Thai book was like an f’ing revelation. Revelation, I tell you. Maybe I was just really craving sweet and starchy, but oh. Oh lovely thing. It’s basically cooking up some onions and garlic, then frying the rice a bit, then adding crushed pineapple and shredded carrots with a bit of salt and sugar, and mixing that all up, and then tossing in some green onions. I added tofu too.
And then in an astounding show of willpower I managed not to eat the entire pan.
Oh Thai food. Oh heaven.
Okay. No more food talk now. I promise you for the next 168 hours (give or take — that puts us at the morning of Thursday, March 9), I will not mention food here, unless something truly bizarre has happened, like it’s fueled a fire that’s burnt down my apartment or I’ve witnessed it hurled in someone’s face or I’ve licked it off that guy in the bike shop. Okay? Okay.

Sweet! Since most of my visit was about food, I’ll definitely be the first to post about it. :-) I have two days typed up, and just need to add in the pictures. I’ll post ‘em tonight.

I’m strongly in favor of you licking food off of the guy in the bike shop.
Whipped cream is nice. So is chocolate sauce.

Whipped cream, okay. But if you’re going to go with the chocolate sauce, I’d suggest you stick to the important parts, ’cause I’d imagine that’d probably get sickening. ‘Course. I’m allergic to chocolate, so I wouldn’t know. But, if in terms of richness it’s remotely like honey, well. Let’s say if you were going the honey route, you should definitely just stick to the important parts.
I think I want to try that pineapple fried rice.
