» the good bits

This Christmas I want a more even keel (which…isn’t really how that expression works, but you follow).

Yesterday Carrie and I went to Falafel King (which was taaasty), and going there and back I was deliriously happy imagining myself living so close-by. I was mentally plotting out all the places I could easily go — the Rainbow where I’ll shop, the Whole Foods up the street (finally!), the Jamba Juice. Jamba Juice, y’all. In summer walking distance. Punch Neopolitan Pizza! If it’s a nice day, Steph, we can *walk* there. All of Calhoun and Uptown literally minutes away. Tum Rup Thai will be more convenient than Big Bowl. Plus I’ll have awesome neighbors not two blocks away (at least until next fall). And Carrie knows where all the specialty markets are — where I can get gigantic cheap bags of rice and beans and cheap Indian spices. If I don’t get a pressure cooker for Christmas (which is really likely, since I, you know, haven’t actually asked anyone for one) I think it might be one of my first new-apartment purchases.

So much to do in the next few weeks. So little time left.
