» the girl who’s not going to Botswana (not yet, anyway)

My glasses came in.

Forgive my utterly makeupless state. It’s Sunday. Some weekends I barely refrain from just wearing a new pair of pajamas for the day.

I typically wear contacts; my glasses are for cozying up in the evenings and on those near-pajama weekends. The pair I’ve just replaced had a prescription that was probably five years old or more. Now I can again drive safely on contactless days.

I had lots of fun yesterday. We went over to the “Shoppes at Arbor Lakes”. When places are expensive they always add a few extra letters to otherwise normal words, to let people know: Yes ma’am, you will be charged for those extra consonants/vowels. I really liked the set-up, though, and we had dinner at P.F. Chang’s, which was yummy, and I got to tote my bitty nephew around in his snugli for most of the day. He was quite popular, as is the wont of two-and-a-half-week-old babies.

I bought a new pair of hair sticks — brown, though it’s my black ones I’ve woefully broken a second time. In the same place, though; they get one more round with supergluing before I give up on them. I also got some Irish breakfast and black raspberry tea from Teavana, which is a marvelous shop. They’ve only got two locations in MN, Arbor Lakes and the Mall (of America), which I suppose is good for my wallet. And cupboard space. I go through tea rather steadily, but not *that* quickly.

And now Erin is here, and we’re going to Target to get the invitations for the baby shower we’re throwing Mel and Alex. So off I go.

Pretty glasses. I had a near moment of Dr. Thomas when I saw you. I’m thinking that the glasses just mean that you have to go back to college and get a MA and then a Ph.D. just for the glasses.
