My heart’s been far away lately. It’s been set on England and Germany and India and Egypt and lately Singapore.
The flight to Singapore is so long that they have cold storage on the planes for anyone who dies. On a regular sort of flight if someone dies they are left in their seat; maybe a flight attendant will put a sheet over them, maybe not. If you are next to the dead person and there are empty seats elsewhere on the plane, they’ll probably move you. But if you’re going to Singapore they put the bodies in cold storage, so long as there are not more than two. More than two and you have a problem.
Fourteen days to California. I’m hoping for warm weather when I get there. Warmer than here, anyway, which shouldn’t be hard. Though now that I’ve plugged in my space heater I keep it around 77 in my room, which I know is abnormally high.
It is 10:25 and I am suddenly hungry. But this happens every day around 10:30, like clockwork. An 8-4:30 job makes you notice these things. It forces your life into a regular pattern.
