Had a good and half-productive weekend. Spent a few hours at the Aveda Institute on Saturday getting my hair cut; well worth $12. I also bought some of their universal styling cream, which is a complete miracle. A miracle, I tell you. And it smells really good.
Jo and I had dinner at Vescio’s, which is a tasty Italian place in Dinkytown. I ate things I probably shouldn’t've, but not a terrible lot of them, so at least that’s something. Then we went over to the Purple Onion and got very hyper on coffee and tea, respectively. And then we stayed up far, far too late playing the Sims. Shamefully late. So late I won’t even say.
Yesterday we shopped and I managed to pick up that hand-held scraper I wanted, though I didn’t find a squeegie that was quite right. I also finally got new work pants. I spent a little more than I’d wanted, but the Limited was having a sale and everything cheaper I tried on was v. butt unfriendly.
This morning after I parked my car a fat crow landed on the retaining wall just beside it and peered in at me for a while, all curious and unafraid. I took it as a good sign, mostly because I prefer to take everything unusual as a good sign if possible.
The morning is flying by, but things have been mostly uninteresting. As you can see.
I saw Saved yesterday, which was hilarious. The first half I found much better than the second. The second was pretty predictable, but that was what I’d expected so I wasn’t disappointed, and overall it was well worth it. Plus one of my favorite actresses plays the mother — she was Ruth in Fried Green Tomatoes and Harper in Angels in America (which I still haven’t seen the second half of). The most surprising (and strange) thing about Saved was the unexpected hotness of Macauly Caulkin.
And now I am going back to work, because this is wholly uninteresting and I am freezing.

You should see that movie where Macauly is in drag. I forget what it’s called, but I saw a couple of pictures and he looked like he was going to be hot in the movie.

I just saw Saved! recently, too. Because I am a bad, bad person who watches movies instead of catching up on my email when I have a few free hours. I loved the line about the pipe bomb. Literally almost spit soda across the room.
Mary-Louise Parker is great, you’re right. Especially as Harper. She was (well, other than Prior, who I love simply because he’s Justin Kirk) totally my favorite.
Party Monster’s the movie with Mac in drag. I was drunk when I watched it, but, um, I think even if I wasn’t I still wouldn’t have liked it. I felt like it was too busy being clever that it sorta left all semblance of an understandable plot fall by the wayside. Even drunk I could figure that much out. :D Maybe because it’s based on a true story, they felt like you should know already? I dunno. Anyway. Yeah.
