» lost in la plata
Wednesday morning while I was in the kitchen making toast my dad called from the living room that a plane had gone down in Kirksville. Of course my first thought was Ha ha, funny. Because that’s just the sort of thing he’d make up. But then we flipped through a few channels and found the story again.
Sure enough, early yesterday morning (or perhaps late Tuesday night), a plane went down just a few miles out from the La Plata airport. As of then there were five people missing. I haven’t checked any further as I was monumentally busy yesterday and largely so today (thank god for this lunch break).
I’m just glad it didn’t happen a year ago, since then Katie and Kathy probably would not have been so glad to fly out on that same commuter flight. Then again, Katie didn’t believe me that they’d be landing practically in the middle of a field anyway. ;)

I heard it was a commercial plane, though, not a passenger flight. Was it?

Nope — commuter flight from St Louis. The same one y’all took.
Here‘s an article about it from the Columbia paper. You can find lots of stuff by searching “Kirksville plane crash” or something similar.

Very, very pretty. God, that game freaks me out. And god, this site now creeps me out. Which is good, because it’s that creepy time of year. I’ll keep it until after Halloween, then my ass is switching back to the pretty sky one.
